Starting a Neighbourhood Watch

A Watch scheme can be in your own road, close, part of a road or perhaps a block of flats. It should not be so large as to be difficult for the Coordinator to maintain contact with the members.

Talk to your neighbours to see how much interest there is: you need about 50% or more of households to be members if the scheme is to be viable.

Contact your local Police Station to arrange for a meeting with one of your local Community Beat officers by telephoning 0845 045 45 45, or send us an e-mail.

  • Eastleigh for Chandler's Ford, Valley Park, Eastleigh, Bishopstoke, Fair Oak and Horton Heath;
  • Hedge End for West End, Hedge End, Botley, Bursledon, Hamble and Netley;
  • Romsey for North Baddesley, Romsey, Ampfield and all villages in the southern part of Test Valley.

At the meeting decide on a Coordinator, Deputy and perhaps a committee to keep the scheme running.
